# How to sign with an ID card

Sign a package (.edoc/.asice) with your ID card in your own software, then upload the signed file. OkoSign checks it and passes it on.

## What you need

Your ID card, a card reader and the free signing software of your country, such as eParakstītājs or DigiDoc4. This works for a package (.edoc/.asice); a PDF on its own is signed with Smart-ID for now.

## Steps

1. Download the document from the link you were sent.
2. Sign it in eParakstītājs or DigiDoc4 with your card.
3. Upload the signed file on the same page.
4. OkoSign checks that it is the same document, signed by you, with a qualified signature. Then it is recorded.

## Why it may be refused

The file may be a different one from the document you were sent. The card may be someone else's. The signature may be a company seal, or the certificate may have expired. The reason is shown in plain words, and nothing is recorded.
