# How it works

> You are reading the Markdown version of https://okosign.com/en/how-it-works, at https://okosign.com/en/how-it-works.md. Every page of okosign.com has one: its address plus .md (the home’s is /index.md).

You send a document, the other person signs, and everyone gets the same signed file.

## Send a document for signing

1. Sign in with your e-mail or Google.
2. Confirm who you are with Smart-ID, once. The people you send to see who sent it.
3. Add the document. One PDF is signed as a PDF; anything else goes into one signed package (.edoc in Latvia, .asice elsewhere). Nothing is ever converted.
4. Add the people who sign, by e-mail or, on a paid plan, by text message. Choose the order and a deadline.
5. If you sign too, you sign first.
6. Send.

## What the other person does

### With Smart-ID

1. Open the link.
2. Press Sign with Smart-ID.
3. Check that the four-digit code matches the one on your phone.
4. Enter PIN2.

### With their own software

They download the file, sign it in eParakstītājs or DigiDoc4 with an ID card, eParaksts or Mobile-ID, and upload it. We check the signature and that nothing changed. This works for a package (.edoc/.asice); a PDF on its own is signed with Smart-ID for now.

### No account, ever

The link stays readable for 30 days after the request closes; save your copy from it.

## When everyone has signed

Everyone gets the signed file and its signing certificate by e-mail. The file is the proof, and anyone can check it anywhere.

## What it costs

Your first 10 signatures every month are free, and signing what others send you always is. [See the prices](https://okosign.com/en/pricing)
